Our Ingredients

We hand-select our simple, all-natural ingredients with care from Japanese farmers and suppliers we know and trust. All of our ingredients — wholesome vegetables, rice bran oil, raw sugar, potato syrup, and sea salt — are made in Japan and are 100% natural, with no additives, so you can enjoy our snacks with peace of mind!

Hearty Japanese vegetables

We use unique varieties of Japanese vegetables grown by Japanese farmers we know and trust.

Many of our sweet potatoes are grown on Kyushu and Tanegashima islands. These islands formed via volcanic activity millions of years ago, producing soil rich with ash and organic matter. Kyushu enjoys abundant freshwater from its verdant mountains, Tanegashima holds generous underground springs, and both islands have a warm and rainy subtropical climate. These fertile conditions allow Kyushu and Tanegashima farmers to grow the most delicious sweet potatoes in the world!

Rice bran oil made from Japanese brown rice

Our rice oil is made from the outer layer, or bran, of non-GMO Japanese brown rice. It is naturally gluten-free and has a clean, delicate, slightly nutty flavor.

Our rice bran oil contains beneficial antioxidants including high levels of Vitamin E as well as gamma-oryzanol, a bioactive compound shown to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and anti-diabetic effects.

The consumption of rice bran oil has been shown in numerous studies to significantly reduce levels of total cholesterol, LDL “bad” cholesterol, and triglycerides.

Our rice bran oil is made by Tsuno Foods in the town of Katsuragi, a short drive around the Osaka Bay from our workshop in Kobe.


Unrefined brown sugar made from Tanegashima sugarcane

Our unrefined brown sugar contains many natural minerals as well as calcium, potassium, and iron. It has a deep, rich flavor with the gentle and rustic sweetness of the Tanegashima sugarcane.

Our unrefined sugar is made by Shinko Sugar at the Nakatane Plant on Tanegashima Island in southern Japan.


Sea salt from Naruto seawater

Our all-natural sea salt is made by sun-drying the pristine seawater carried by the strong tidal movements through the Naruto Strait. It is balanced and body-friendly, with plenty of minerals and a fine texture.

Our sea salt is made by Tomita in the city of Naruto, a short drive across Awaji Island from our workshop in Kobe.


Potato syrup made from Japanese potatoes & sweet potatoes

Our all-natural potato syrup is made from wholesome Japanese potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Our potato syrup is made by Toyo Sugar in the town of Kawagoe, a short drive across the Kii Peninsula from our workshop in Kobe.


Our Cooking Methods

We handcraft all of our snacks, combining traditional kettle-cooking with innovative modern methods. This unique approach allows us to craft delicious products that bring out the best of our hearty, all-natural ingredients.


We've kettle-cooked our sweet potato karinto chips by hand since our company was founded. This traditional method, refined through 40 years of experience, is the key to the old-fashioned, rustic flavor and perfect crunch of our sweet potato chips.

Low-Temperature Vacuum-Cooking

We integrate low-temperature vacuum-cooking into the process of making our vegetable chips, enabling us to make light and crispy snacks with low oil absorption that retain the vivid color, authentic flavor, and healthy nutrients of our hearty vegetables.

Combining all-natural, 100% Japanese ingredients with our refined, handcrafted approach is the key to making high-quality, delicious sweet potato karinto 芋かりんとう and vegetable chips 野菜チップス that are truly one-of-a-kind, in Japan and the world!
